Des rapports de fans s’échappent des fans qui attendent à l’extérieur des répétitions de Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band dans le New Jersey. La page Twitter Bruce Springsteen’s Tour News est restée vigilante à l’extérieur des répétitions et a répertorié tout ce qui s’est passé à l’intérieur. Le groupe répète actuellement pour sa tournée de retour en 2023 à Red Bank, au Vogel. Les répétitions de lundi (16 janvier) n’ont réuni que le « Boss », les claviéristes Roy Bittan et Charlie Giordano, ainsi que les choristes de la tournée.
En plus des nombreux standards du groupe interprétés par les E Streeter ces derniers jours, plusieurs chansons de la récente série de reprises soul de Springsteen, Only The Strong Survive, ont été abordées, notamment « Nightshift », « Don’t Play That Song » et « Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) ».
On a également entendu le groupe répéter des versions live de chansons de l’album 2020 Letter To You de Springsteen, notamment la chanson titre de l’album, « House Of A Thousand Guitars », « Ghosts » et « If I Was Priest ».
Parmi les invités qui ont fait irruption dans les répétitions, citons la jeune sœur de Springsteen, la photographe Pam, son fils – un pompier du New Jersey – Sam Springsteen et sa femme, le photographe Danny Clinch, ainsi que son ami proche John Salerno.
Au fil des ans, nous avons eu la chance de parler à Springsteen de son travail et de la place qu’occupe l’E Street Band dans sa musique. Il nous a expliqué qu’après un hiatus de dix ans, le groupe s’est reformé en 1999, ce qui a signifié beaucoup pour lui et pour chacun de ses membres : [“It was a great time for all of us. We’re probably one of the few bands where everybody’s alive. Y’know, and everybody’s healthy, and all the relationships are intact. And I think that we’ve gotten to a place where everybody realizes, ‘Wow, this is a very singular thing.’ Y’know, it’s a unique thing; this group of people playing together in this fashion. And that we created something together that was a big, big part of our own lives, y’know? And a big part of our audience’s life and we wanted to live up to that thing. And we wanted to continue to serve in the fashion that we served before with our audience, y’know? And those were really — and those were the critical issues when we got together, y’know, to come out on the road.
