Mick Fleetwood rendra hommage à sa compagne de feu le groupe Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie, lors de la 65e cérémonie annuelle des Grammy Awards, ce dimanche 5 février sur CBS. Le légendaire batteur a posté sur Instagram qu’il saluerait McVie aux côtés de Bonnie Raitt et Sheryl Crow.
Christine McVie est décédée le 30 novembre dernier à l’âge de 79 ans de causes non divulguées. Son dernier album solo, intitulé Songbird (A Solo Collection), comprend des apparitions d’Eric Clapton, Lindsey Buckingham et Steve Winwood. La chanson titre de l’album – « Songbird (Orchestral Version) » a été nominée pour un Grammy 2023 dans la catégorie des meilleurs arrangements, instruments et voix.
Lors de l’intronisation de Fleetwood Mac au Rock and Roll Hall of Fame en 1998, Sheryl Crow a parlé avec amour du travail de Christine McVie : [“Christine McVie made it cool to be the piano player in the band. She showed me that it’s not about being ‘pretty good’ for a ‘chick’ — it’s about being great. She showed me that a driving rock song could be written on the piano.
