Foreigner a annoncé la première étape de sa tournée d’adieu de 2023 avec son invité spécial, Loverboy. La tournée débutera le 6 juillet à Alpharetta, en Géorgie, à l’Ameris Bank Amphitheatre et se poursuivra jusqu’au 3 septembre au PNC Bank Arts Center de Holmdel, dans le New Jersey.
Mick Jones, le guitariste cofondateur de Foreigner, leader et principal auteur-compositeur, a déclaré dans un communiqué :
Il y a de nombreuses années, j’ai écrit une chanson intitulée « Feels Like The First Time » et aujourd’hui, nous lançons une dernière tournée mondiale. Nous allons présenter un spectacle qui, je le sais, suscitera le même enthousiasme que nos toutes premières apparitions.
La tournée débutera cet été en Amérique et nous espérons nous rendre dans tous les endroits où nous avons joué ces dernières années. Même si je suis sûr que nos fans auront des sentiments mitigés quant à la fin de la route pour le groupe, je sais que nos spectacles vont ravir le public partout.
Paul Dean, guitariste de Loverboy, a ajouté :
Je me souviens à quel point la dernière fois que nous avons fait une tournée avec Foreigner était cool, en 1982. Nous avons joué dans des stades gigantesques – Nouvelle-Orléans, Kansas City, « Day On The Green » à Oakland, JFK (Stadium) à Philadelphie – et nous sommes de nouveau réunis, 41 ans plus tard. Ce sera la tournée de l’été 23 !
Kelly Hanson, le leader de Foreigner, a raconté comment lui et Mick Jones ont décidé de mettre un terme à leur carrière après des décennies passées sur la route : [“We have been hitting it hard — with me in the band — for just about 18 years; eight, nine months out of the year every single year. And that has an effect and it doesn’t get any easier — especially doing this catalog of songs. It’s extremely challenging for a rock tenor vocalist like myself to sing. So, um, y’know, Mick and I talked about it and with management made a decision. La dernière fois que nous avons rencontré Mike Reno, le leader de Loverboy, il nous a dit qu’incroyablement, le spectacle de son groupe continuait à être de plus en plus fort : [“We just did a show here close to Vancouver, and the promoter guy said, ‘We’re expecting between 500 and 1,000’ — and 6,000 people showed up. People as far as you can see. And I just went, ‘Isn’t that interesting after all these years?’ Y’know, we haven’t had an un-sold out show for the last four years, and I got so many good reports from people that have seen us many times, y’know, close friends and stuff. And they said, ‘I don’t know what you guys are doing, but you guys are tight.’ And I think it’s just ’cause we work so much. Foreigner se produit ce soir (15 novembre) au Seminole Hard Rock Hotel &amp ; Casino Tampa.
Loverboy se produira le 26 novembre à Larchwood, Iowa au Grand Falls Casino &amp ; Golf Resort.
