Le dernier album de Paul Simon, Seven Psalms, sortira le 19 mai. Selon l’annonce, ce cycle de chansons en sept mouvements, d’une durée de 33 minutes, est destiné à être écouté comme une seule pièce continue. Ce nouvel album entièrement acoustique, produit par Simon et Kyle Crusham, comprend des éléments choraux du célèbre ensemble vocal britannique VOCES8, ainsi qu’une apparition de l’épouse de Simon, l’auteur-compositeur-interprète Edie Brickell, et du grand jazzman Wynton Marsalis.
Une bande-annonce du nouvel album a été diffusée, comprenant des extraits d’un prochain documentaire sur Simon, intitulé In Restless Dreams.
Il y a quelque temps, Paul Simon a expliqué que pour lui, l’écriture de chansons ne consiste pas à se reposer dans sa zone de confort : [“Well, I think it’s my job not to actually be that concerned about being safe. I think you go for whatever it is that you think the truth is. In my case, I find the area I find most vulnerable in and therefore the area I’m most interested in is the heart, love. That’s the area I least wanna talk to you about, or tell you about, or reveal about myself. And so, that’s the area that I feel compelled to write about. But I really feel it’s, like, the job to go for the hit and if you kiss and they, they laugh at you or they criticize you, well, y’know, get a tougher skin.”] (:36 OC : . . . une peau plus dure)
