STANLEY SIMMONS : Les héritiers de KISS dévoilent leur premier single « Body Down »

Dans un clin d’œil rock’n’roll qui fait écho à l’héritage familial, STANLEY SIMMONS, le projet collaboratif des fils de Paul Stanley et Gene Simmons – membres emblématiques de KISS – s’apprête à conquérir les ondes. Evan Stanley et Nick Simmons annoncent la sortie de leur premier single, intitulé « Body Down », prévue pour le 5 décembre prochain. Ce duo inattendu, né d’une alchimie vocale irrésistible, promet de marquer les esprits et de perpétuer la légende du glam rock avec une touche moderne et authentique.

Il y a un an à peine, STANLEY SIMMONS n’était qu’un vague fantasme dans l’esprit d’Evan et Nick. « A year ago STANLEY SIMMONS wasn’t even the beginning of a thought in either of our heads. Now it’s pretty much all of them », confie le duo dans un communiqué officiel. « We’re incredibly proud of the record we’re making and very stoked to share it with you all. » Depuis onze mois, les deux complices partagent sur Instagram des aperçus de leur processus créatif : des sessions studio improvisées, des harmonies envoûtantes et une complicité évidente qui fait vibrer les fans.

L’origine de ce projet est des plus organiques. Comme l’explique Evan à Tmrw Magazine : « It was never supposed to be a project. We just wanted to sing together once. Then we heard it back and thought, ‘Wait, this actually sounds special.' » Nick renchérit avec enthousiasme : « There’s a kind of connection you can’t fake. When we sing together, it feels like a third voice, something new. » Grandis dans l’ombre des icônes de KISS, Evan et Nick ont toujours su que leur nom de famille ouvrait des portes, mais pas des talents. « People get hyped on the last names. But that doesn’t get you anywhere. You can’t network your way into making something that actually moves people », souligne Evan, insistant sur l’authenticité qui définit leur musique.

Leur amitié remonte à l’enfance, forgée lors des tournées et répétitions de leurs pères. « We’ve grown up together. We’re essentially brothers », raconte Nick dans une interview accordée à People Magazine en février dernier. Tout a commencé lors d’une soirée décontractée : « Recently Evan picked up a guitar when we were hanging out, and we started humming some harmonies, and it was kind of an unexpected, magic moment. It all just snowballed from there. » Ce moment de grâce a rapidement évolué en un projet sérieux.

Un jalon marquant ? En décembre 2024, Evan et Nick ont publié une vidéo sur les réseaux sociaux où ils reprennent le classique de 1964 de Simon & Garfunkel, « The Sound of Silence ». Nick a légendé la publication avec humour : « he garfunkeled my simon till my hall got oates » – une référence espiègle à Hall & Oates qui a fait sourire les internautes. Cette reprise, simple et acoustique, a révélé leur chimie vocale et a récolté des milliers de vues en un rien de temps.

Gene Simmons, le légendaire bassiste de KISS, n’a pas caché sa fierté lors d’un entretien avec le New York Post en mars. « Both have been pals because they went to see their dads work since they were little boys. And they never thought about getting together, just strumming and humming and all that », explique-t-il. Référençant la vidéo de la reprise, Gene ajoute : « [Nick] set up a camera, and Evan just started strumming his guitar. They did ‘The Sound Of Silence’ a few times and immediately everybody went, ‘What is that?’ Because you can’t create that. You either have that chemistry – that sound that people react to – or not. » Selon lui, la réponse du public a été si enthousiaste qu’Evan et Nick sont désormais en pleine écriture et enregistrement de leur premier album. Le producteur ? Un secret bien gardé, mais Gene lâche un indice : « won ‘Producer Of The Year’ [at the Grammy Awards] and produced, oh I don’t know, GREEN DAY and lots of people. » Une allusion claire à Rob Cavallo, le célèbre producteur de Green Day. « Both Paul and I are very proud », conclut-il.

De son côté, Paul Stanley, le chanteur charismatique de KISS, a partagé son émotion lors d’une conversation avec Liz Svatek en juillet. « They’re just finishing an album. And it’s fantastic. It really, really is. It’s magical », déclare-t-il, la voix chargée d’émotion. « I just got a chill because I see the two of them, and Gene and I have been together 55 years, 56 years, and started out as kids in our parents’ house. And here’s our boys having this fabulous, magical connection and making great music. » Pour Paul, cette collaboration est poignante : « They’ve known each other their whole lives, and only in the last six months have they suddenly started playing music together. And it’s clicked in a way that’s incredible. […] Gene’s and my sons are gonna be singing together and making great music, and the industry is gonna be buzzing about it. And it’s not manufactured. And that’s wonderful. »

Avec STANLEY SIMMONS, Evan et Nick ne surfent pas simplement sur l’héritage de KISS ; ils le réinventent. « Body Down » sera le premier témoignage de cette alchimie familiale, et les amateurs de rock attendent avec impatience de découvrir ce que ces « frères » de cœur réservent pour l’avenir. Une nouvelle ère s’ouvre, et elle s’annonce explosive.
