ZZ Top et Lynyrd Skynyrd s’associent pour une tournée commune de 23 dates cet été, baptisée « The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour ». La tournée débutera le 21 juillet au iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre de West Palm Beach, en Floride, et se poursuivra jusqu’au 17 septembre, date à laquelle les deux légendes du rock sudiste se produiront au Freedom Mortgage Pavilion de Camden, dans le New Jersey. Les billets seront mis en vente ce vendredi 16 décembre, à 10 heures.
Quarante ans se sont écoulés depuis l’album Eliminator de ZZ Top, sorti en 1983 et qui a marqué l’ère MTV, avec des classiques instantanés tels que « Gimme All Your Lovin' », « Sharp Dressed Man » et « Legs ». Nous avons demandé au guitariste Billy F. Gibbons comment le groupe a pu embrasser les années 1980 tout en restant fidèle à lui-même musicalement : [“Yeah, well as the old saying goes: ‘One foot in the blues.’ It keeps it honest and kinda straight ahead. Le leader Johnny Van Zant nous a dit que le meilleur de la musique de Lynyrd Skynyrd a toujours semblé défier les genres : [“They gave us a tag years ago of ‘Southern Rock,’ and to me I always thought that must mean it’s ‘Country Rock,’ which is the truth, and around our house we were listening to Merle Haggard and George Jones, but we also watched Ed Sullivan and saw Elvis Presley and the Beatles, too, and loved all that stuff too, so there’s no boundaries in music these days.”] (:18 OC : . . . la musique de nos jours)
ZZ Top entame sa dernière série de concerts le 4 février à Taupo, en Nouvelle-Zélande, au Taupo Amphitheatre Riverside Park.
Lynyrd Skynyrd se produira le 23 février à San Antonio, Texas, au San Antonio Stock Show &amp ; Rodeo.
